Semarang – Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Nursing, Diponegoro University (Undip), recently organized a comprehensive workshop to evaluate and enhance the curriculum of the Master of Nursing Program on November 8-9, 2023.

This two-day event was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person sessions at Hotel Alana Solo with virtual participation through Zoom meetings. The event commenced with welcoming remarks from the Head of the Department of Nursing, Dr. Anggorowati, M.Kep., Ns.Sp.Kep.Mat., and a speech from the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, represented by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. dr. Hermina Sukmaningtyas, M.Kes, Sp.Rad(K), who also officially opened the event.

The primary objective of this workshop was to evaluate the current curriculum and update it in accordance with the latest regulations and user needs. Additionally, the workshop served as a platform to design a new curriculum for an upcoming concentration in pediatric nursing.

Workshop participants included faculty members, students, and alumni of the Undip Master of Nursing Program. Various stakeholders from local health centers, partner hospitals, correctional institutions, and other clinical practice settings also participated. The event further attracted representatives from nursing associations across Central Java, such as HIMEBI, HIPERCI, IPKKI, IPKJI, IPANI, and IPEMI.

The workshop featured several prominent speakers, both from within and outside of Undip. They were Prof. Yeni Rustina, S.Kp., M.App.Sc., Ph.D., from the University of Indonesia, who delivered a presentation on “Recommendations for the master of nursing curriculum with a focus on pediatric nursing,” and Erna Rochmawati, Ns., MNSc., M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., from the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, who discussed “Review and evaluation of the Undip master of nursing curriculum.” In addition to academic figures, a stakeholder, Dr. dr. Mochamad Abdul Hakam, Sp.PD. FINASM, from the Semarang Health Department, was also present to provide insights into “The direction and health service policies in Semarang City and human resource development through educational advancements.”

Furthermore, the speakers from Undip included Megah Andriany, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Kom, Ph.D., who presented an overview of the Undip master of nursing curriculum, and Dr. Zubaidah, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep, Sp.Kep.An., who discussed the development of the new curriculum for pediatric nursing.

Throughout the workshop, participants demonstrated high enthusiasm, and the interactive and meaningful discussions enriched the knowledge of the Undip nursing curriculum team for further development.
