Semarang – Department of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University held a training on improving branding competence for lecturers and educational staffs on November 17-18, 2023, at the Auditorium of the Nursing Building, Undip.
The event aimed to improve the awareness, knowledge, and skills of teaching staff and educational personnel in executing personal and institutional branding. A total of 49 lecturers and staff from the Nursing Department participated in this program.
The training not only emphasized the fundamental concept of branding but also underscored the crucial role of personal and institutional branding in fortifying individual and institutional image. Personal branding is regarded as a pivotal strategy for lecturers and educational personnel to establish reputation, trust, and unique value within the academic community.
Meanwhile, institutional branding, constituting an institution’s identity, is equally imperative in attracting the interest of the public, prospective students, and other external parties. Strengthening the image and identity of educational institutions through branding strategies would significantly highlight their strengths, values, and vision.
The training was officially opened by the Head of the Nursing Department, Dr. Anggorowati, M.Kep., Ns.Sp.Kep.Mat. In her address, she emphasized the significant role of lecturers and educational personnel as effective ambassadors for Undip in strengthening its branding.
The training featured Dr. Muhamad Sulhan, S.IP., M.Si., from the Department of Communication Science from the Faculty of Social and Political Science at UGM, Nur Rohman, S.Sn., M.Kom from the Faculty of Computer Science, Udinus, and Widya Oktarina, S.Pd., M.P.W.K. from the Class I Railway Technical Institute in Semarang as speakers.
In addition to the sessions with the speakers, participants had the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained during the training through guided and independent practical exercises. Participants were also assigned a task as an implementation aspect of the training. They appeared enthusiastic and engaged throughout all training sessions until the end of the event.
The training provided broad insights to lecturers and administrative staff on how personal and institutional branding can be established and maintained. This is expected to support the achievement of goals and enhance Undip’s position in the competitive landscape of higher education, both nationally and internationally. [AN]
